New Collaborate Ultra workshop opportunity!

CTET is thrilled to announce that we have added a workshop to our suite of regular and ongoing workshops! The new workshop is called Getting Started with Collaborate Ultra and is focused on learning how to use Collaborate Ultra from a technical perspective. It is a 90-minute workshop delivered synchronously online, and registration is now open for our first offering, scheduled for October 26, 2017, 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Faculty and staff are invited to register for Getting Started with Collaborate Ultra and its partner workshop, Teaching with Collaborate Ultra, via the RRU Professional and Continuing Studies site. What is Collaborate Ultra?

Collaborate Ultra is RRU’s web-conferencing platform and allows instructors and students to connect in a virtual face-to-face environment. Moderators of Collaborate Ultra sessions can present slides, share files, take polls, and more.

What is 'Getting Started with Collaborate Ultra'?

Getting Started with Collaborate Ultra is a new workshop focused on learning how to use Collaborate Ultra and developing technical proficiency using Collaborate Ultra tools and moderator controls.

What topics are covered in 'Getting Started with Collaborate Ultra'?

This workshop will cover topics such as: the equipment needed for moderating in Collaborate Ultra; how to use participant and moderator views and controls (e.g. chat, whiteboard, share files, breakout rooms, record a session, etc.); solving basic troubleshooting issues; and, getting more support.

How is 'Getting Started with Collaborate Ultra' different to 'Teaching with Collaborate Ultra'?

Getting Started with Collaborate Ultra is a technology-focused workshop and is designed to complement participation in Teaching with Collaborate Ultra, our more pedagogically-focused workshop. Teaching with Collaborate Ultra focuses on developing skills for facilitating engaging and dynamic web-conferencing sessions using Collaborate Ultra.

Who should take 'Getting Started with Collaborate Ultra'?

We suggest that instructors or staff who are thinking about or planning to use Collaborate Ultra in the future take Getting Started with Collaborate Ultra. We also suggest that participants planning to take Teaching with Collaborate Ultra also take the new workshop in order to get the most out of Teaching with Collaborate Ultra.

When is 'Getting Started with Collaborate Ultra' being offered?

Getting Started with Collaborate Ultra will always be offered one week before Teaching with Collaborate Ultra. The first offering of Getting Started with Collaborate Ultra will be October 26, 2017, from 1:30pm-3:00pm.

Can I take either Collaborate Ultra workshop without doing the other?

Yes! Participants can take both workshops for the complete Collaborate Ultra training experience, or can also take either workshop as a stand-alone. For example, if you are already familiar with getting around Collaborate Ultra, you can go straight to Teaching with Collaborate Ultra. Or, if you are an experienced web-conferencing facilitator using a different platform, you can take Getting Started with Collaborate Ultra to become more familiar with Collaborate Ultra. Note that Teaching with Collaborate Ultra assumes a basic familiarity with the technology and tools of Collaborate Ultra.
