Welcome to the Centre for Health Leadership and Research (CHLR) website.
I am honoured to be the director of this collaborative, transdisciplinary Centre for Health Leadership and Research (CHLR), based at the beautiful Royal Roads University campus, located on the traditional lands of the Xwsepsum (Esquimalt) and Lkwungen (Songhees) ancestors and families, neighbouring the Nations of Scia’new (Beecher Bay) and T’Sou-ke (Sooke).
Healthcare leadership is based on truly understanding the needs of individuals, families, and communities, and translating that knowledge into creating client and family-centred healthcare policies, practices, and systems. We seek to recognize and respect the diversity of those we serve, and aim to be inclusive and culturally safe in our approach to research. Our aim of empowering people to thrive as well as survive, and our focus on sustainability, means we value the full continuum of healthcare, from prevention and health promotion to innovative, holistic approaches to addressing health challenges.
Our research and interests span a variety of fields which are fundamental to our complex healthcare systems. Our partners include frontline health and social care professionals, leaders in public, private, and non-profit organizations, and innovators in the development of policy, practice, and knowledge translation that will transform people’s experience and outcomes of healthcare in the real world.
