Centre for Health Leadership and Research Forum 2016
The Centre for Health Leadership and Research (CHLR) hosted a forum at Royal Roads University on September 30th, 2016. Over 30 participants attended from across the University and the health system, including the Royal Roads Elders Circle, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Children and Family Development, and Island Health. After a welcome from Dr Allan Cahoon, President, and an Indigenous welcome led by Asma-na-hi Antoine and the Elders, issues addressed included recognition of residential school survivors during Orange Shirt Day, development of an Indigenous health leadership agenda, the new mission, vision, and objectives of the CHLR, and open discussion among participants about collaborations and new areas for research.
Dr Elizabeth Hartney, the Centre Director said: "The CHLR forum was a wonderful opportunity to bring together university, community, and health system partners, who have been working on this latest iteration of the CHLR, and to launch our new direction. The mission, vision, and objectives of the CHLR that were presented at the forum have been developed through a consultation process, and reflect the values of the School of Leadership Studies, the mandate of Royal Roads University, and current priorities in the BC and Canadian healthcare systems."
